ITFU BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

ITFU British Champs, Birmingham

On Sunday 30th May, a few of team SDMA took part in the ITFU British Champs in Birmingham. This was a new competition to us, so was an exciting experience to see a lot of new clubs and competitors.

Alistair was the only colour belt from team SDMA but still did very well. First was his pattern, in which he had improved a lot since the last competition and came away with the first bronze medal of the day! Then time for sparring, again did great and came away with another bronze. And at the very end of the day, he had a go at power breaking, but unfortunately didn’t come away with a medal, despite giving it a very good go!

Mr Plummer took part in both patterns and sparring. He competed in patterns first, which he won his first round in, but unfortunately lost his second, but still came away with the third bronze medal of the day! Next was sparring and after a very tough fight against a 4th degree He unfortunately didn’t place on the podium.

Mr Donohoo competed in patterns, after a very good performance (his first as a 6th degree!) came home with another bronze medal!
And despite not feeling 100% he still came through and supported his students, which shows how much of an amazing coach he his!

Miss Pitt added the last of the bronzes to the collection in patterns, after winning the first round but missing out on the second!

All in all, it was a very enjoyable weekend with lots of fun and hard work from everyone, despite being a new place to the team it was a very welcoming atmosphere with lots of kind competitors, so sure it will be one we return to - hopefully with a bigger team next time!
