On Sunday 6th October, SDMA took a large group of students to the LTSI English championships. The team was a combination of black belts and colour belts with a broad range of experience in the tournament circuit. This was a first for quite a few students which was fantastic to see. What was even better was that, for the first time, we managed to take our first umpire In Mr Plummer and a newly promoted coach in Miss Pitt. Along with Mr Donohoo, there was a great range of experience to help the new competitors settle in.
There was a feeling of contentment within the whole team this time around. Many students came away with awards but, more importantly, all students came away feeling positive with their efforts. The high kick challenge was certainly a very very high challenge…. But everyone gave it their all with a smile on their face.
The following students came away with awards:
Sienna L: Bronze in sparring
Aron R: Silver in Sparring
Alistair C: Bronze in sparring
Matty P: Bronze in sparring
Mikey R: Gold in patterns and new English champion
Sam D: Gold in patterns and new English champion
Coming away with two new English champions was an incredible feeling for the team. The whole team supported each other incredibly well. Fantastic results by all!
