Demonstration @ Sturfit Leisure Centre

On Saturday 23rd April, 15 SDMA students took part in a demonstration at the Sturminster Newton Leisure Centre. This was in aid of St Andrews CE Primary School and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Over £800 was raised in total on the day.

Students demonstrated some line work, a few patterns and invited spectators to join them in some pad drills (in which we had quite a few volunteers, including one of our own black belts in disguise!). We then finished things off with some board breaking for a 'wow factor'. Both Flynn Budd and Lauren Pitt volunteered to break some pine boards.

Over the weeks following this demonstration, we have had some beginners start classes because of what they saw and have kept their training going. This is all thanks to the talent and efforts shown by the SDMA students. One lesson taught on the day was that Taekwon-Do is for everyone, regardless of age, gender or physical/mental boundaries that stop us from trying new things and mixing with other people. Taekwon-Do groups are special groups and can become a 'second family' to many.
